About the site

Immigrant Connection Inc. at Olathe was established in 2014. In addition to immigration legal services, this site also offers conversational ESL classes to support the immigrant community. Site Director Jim Wood shares, “In Olathe, we have served thousands of immigrants. We have become a trusted ILS provider. The need continues to be great and we are contemplating expansion into other parts of the Kansas City metro area.”

The host church of this site, Olathe Wesleyan Church, also runs a welcoming and loving child care center and many immigrants are daycare staff. Close to 15 different languages are spoken by the staff. Jim says these resources have fostered community and raised awareness. “We have developed trust with immigrants in the city that started when we began to more fully understand our immigrant neighbors.”
