Immigrant Connection - Wellspring in Hanover, Pennsylvania became recognized by the Department of Justice in January 2023 to begin providing immigration legal services. The staff at IC - Wellspring is working to provide much needed immigration legal services in a state that has very few legal services providers. Hanover attracts many immigrants with job offerings in its factories as well as orchards.
The staff at this site saw how limited this resource is in the entire state after they received a call from a dairy farm owner located four hours away requesting help for her employees. They realized there is a great vacuum to be filled. “Providing immigration legal services is such an opportunity for us to serve immigrants in our community and state.”
Site staff work together with a supportive church and a community organization that centralizes resources such as ESL classes, citizenship classes, a food bank, and job training. “We hope to unite families and help people find stability. We want immigrants to have security, to be able to secure their children’s future and to have hope for tomorrow.”
